About PixalTools

We believe media processing should be free, private, and accessible to everyone — no signups, no file uploads to servers, no hidden limits.

Our Story

PixalTools was born out of a simple frustration: every time we needed to compress an image, convert a video, or trim an audio file, we had to upload our personal files to some random website. We had no idea what happened to those files afterward — were they stored? Shared? Sold?

We knew there had to be a better way. With modern browser technologies like WebAssembly, Canvas API, Web Workers, and the File System Access API, we realized that all of these operations could happen entirely inside your browser — on your own device — without ever sending a single byte to a remote server.

That realization became PixalTools: a comprehensive suite of 100+ media processing tools that run entirely in your browser. Whether you're compressing images for your website, converting HEIC photos from your iPhone, creating GIFs from videos, or trimming audio clips, everything happens locally on your device. Your files never leave your computer or phone.

We launched in 2025 and have since helped thousands of users around the world process their media files quickly, privately, and for free. We continue to add new tools and improve existing ones based on community feedback.

Our Core Values

shield

Privacy First

Your files are yours. Period. We built PixalTools so that all processing happens locally in your browser. No uploads, no cloud storage, no third-party access. We can't see your files because they never reach us. This isn't just a feature — it's the foundation of everything we build.

public

Free & Accessible

Every tool on PixalTools is completely free with no hidden paywalls, no watermarks, and no daily usage caps. A student in India should have the same access to quality tools as a designer at a Fortune 500 company. We sustain our platform through non-intrusive advertising that respects your experience.

speed

Performance

Speed matters. Our tools leverage WebAssembly for near-native processing performance. Most operations complete in under 2 seconds. Since there are no uploads or downloads to/from servers, you save time on every single operation. The tool feels instant because it literally runs on your hardware.

How Our Technology Works

Unlike traditional online tools that require you to upload files to a remote server for processing, PixalTools uses cutting-edge web technologies to do everything inside your browser:

  • WebAssembly (Wasm): We compile high-performance C/C++ image and video processing libraries into WebAssembly, which runs at near-native speed directly in your browser. This is the same technology used by applications like Figma, Google Earth, and AutoCAD web.
  • Web Workers: Heavy processing tasks run in background threads so your browser UI never freezes. You can continue browsing or working on other tabs while your files are being processed.
  • Canvas API & OffscreenCanvas: Image manipulation like resizing, cropping, format conversion, and background removal happens through hardware-accelerated browser APIs, leveraging your device's GPU when available.
  • FFmpeg.wasm: For video and audio operations, we use a WebAssembly port of FFmpeg — the industry-standard multimedia processing framework used by YouTube, VLC, and thousands of other applications.

The result? Professional-grade media processing that runs entirely on your device. No waiting for uploads. No waiting for server processing. No worrying about who has access to your files.

Behind PixalTools

PixalTools is built and maintained by a small team of web developers and designers who are passionate about web technologies, user privacy, and making powerful tools accessible to everyone. We are based in India and serve users globally.

We believe the web browser is becoming the most powerful application platform in the world. Technologies like WebAssembly, GPU-accelerated rendering, and progressive web apps make it possible to build applications that rival native desktop software — without requiring any installation.

Our team actively monitors user feedback, browser API developments, and web standards to continuously improve our tools. If you have suggestions or feature requests, we'd love to hear from you through our contact page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is PixalTools really free?expand_more
Yes — every tool is completely free with no hidden limits, no watermarks, no signups required, and no daily usage caps. We sustain the platform through non-intrusive advertising. You can use any tool as many times as you want, with files of any size.
Are my files safe? Where do they go?expand_more
Your files never leave your device. All processing happens locally in your web browser using WebAssembly and other browser APIs. We have no server infrastructure for file processing — it's technically impossible for us to access your files. This is verifiable: you can use PixalTools with your internet disconnected after the page loads.
How is this different from other online tools?expand_more
Most online image/video tools require you to upload files to their servers for processing. This means slower operations (waiting for upload + processing + download), privacy risks (your files are on someone else's server), and often file size limits. PixalTools runs everything in your browser, making it faster, more private, and unlimited.
What browsers are supported?expand_more
PixalTools works best in modern browsers: Google Chrome (88+), Mozilla Firefox (89+), Microsoft Edge (88+), Safari (15+), and Opera (74+). For video and audio tools, we recommend Chrome or Edge for the best WebAssembly performance. All tools also work on mobile browsers on iOS and Android.
Can I use PixalTools offline?expand_more
Yes! PixalTools is a Progressive Web App (PWA). After visiting the site once, you can install it on your device and use most tools even without an internet connection. The service worker caches the application so it works offline.
How do you make money if everything is free?expand_more
We display non-intrusive advertisements through Google AdSense. These ads help us cover hosting costs and continue developing new tools. We never sell user data (we don't collect any file data to begin with), and we keep ads respectful of your user experience.
